1. Who we are
Neo-Marco Polo ("we", "us") operates the AI travel-companion service at neomarcopolo.com. For privacy questions contact privacy@neomarcopolo.com.
2. What we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, login timestamps.
- Travel preferences: DNA-test answers, derived archetype, preferred destinations, budget range — only when you choose to provide them.
- AI conversation history: messages exchanged with Polo, stored for context across sessions.
- Forum content: posts and replies you publish publicly.
- Operational metadata: IP address, user-agent, request times (used only for security and rate-limiting).
3. How we use it
Strictly to deliver the service: personalize itineraries, remember preferences across sessions, send transactional email (verification codes), prevent abuse, and improve the product based on aggregated metrics. We do not sell personal data.
4. Who we share with
- Neon (US/EU) — managed PostgreSQL database. Stores account, preference, and conversation data.
- Vercel (US) — application hosting and request routing.
- DeepSeek (China) — LLM provider for Polo AI. Your messages are transmitted for inference. Per DeepSeek's policy, inputs are not used to train their models.
- Resend (US) — transactional email delivery (verification codes).
- Tencent Cloud — DNS and (optionally) CDN/edge cache.
No data is shared for advertising or sold to third parties.
5. International transfers
Because we serve a global audience, your data may be transferred across borders (e.g., from EU to US for hosting, or to China for AI inference). Where required by law, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
6. Retention
Account data persists while your account is active. AI conversation history is retained for 18 months unless you delete it. Forum posts remain visible until you delete them or your account. Server logs are kept for 30 days for security.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, PIPL, CCPA, PIPA, APPI, PDPL) you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, email privacy@neomarcopolo.com. We respond within 30 days.

9. Children
Our service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
10. Changes
